Good morning, If I may I would like to share with you some of the work that the Wolverhampton City Centre Team have been up to over the festive period into the new year. 🔍 Local Priorities We have just concluded Operation Silent Night. Police officers have worked with local licenced premises’, businesses & partners to ensure that people that came into the city to experience the night life had a safe and enjoyable night. The “safe haven” also did a great job of looking after those who were vulnerable. During this operation we also conducted patrols aimed at tackling serious youth violence as well as violence against women & girls. We had thirty-six arrests last month, with a majority of these being for thefts from stores in the City. Officers have been working with businesses to gather the best evidence we can to ensure a charge and conviction at court. Operation Redfox is still ongoing, we have worked with the Guardian Task Force, Local Priority Team and the returning Mounted Unit to pro-actively tackle youth violence & knife crime. City Centre officers arrested 36 people last month for offences such as theft, robbery & assault. The PSPO in the city is still in the consultation stage – we are committed to working with the local authority in order to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the City Centre. More information is available on the Wolverhampton Council website. 🤝 Partnership Working Officers went out with licencing to visit pubs and bars to discuss the “Ask for Angela” scheme and lots of training is being done with staff in the hospitality industry to ensure that there is consistency across all locations in the City. PCSO's have been chatting with the customers from some of our local banks and the art gallery, giving help advice on how to keep money & property safe from fraudsters. 🧑🤝🧑 Community Involvement We had our traffic colleagues come to the City to talk to you about keeping safe whilst on the road as part of the #saferstreetswinter campaign. Officers have held several “Cuppa with a Copper” events in the City – if you would like to come along to one of those events the next ones scheduled are below. 12:00PM - 1:00PM, Tue 27 January 2026 Costa Coffee Mander Centre Wolverhampton 12:00PM - 1:00PM, Fri 06 February 2026 Costa Coffee Dudley Street Wolverhampton Seasonal Crime Prevention Advice The darker nights are still with us, and we are seeing an increase in thefts from the person. Our officers are on high-visibility patrols and working closely with businesses and the public, but we encourage everyone to stay vigilant. Simple steps can make a big difference: - Avoid carrying large amounts of cash
- Stay aware of your surroundings when using cash points or paying for goods
- Be cautious of distractions
- Never leave personal belongings unattended
The new year will see more patrols and engagement in the City and we will share what we’ve been up to with you next month. Take care, Sgt Jonathan Peters Wolverhampton City Centre Neighbourhood Team
